- The purpose of this study was to garner a better understanding of the multisite church adoption process. Three examples of successful adoptions were studied in a multiple case study design. The researcher's thesis was that by studying past church adoptions we can begin to understand, describe, and possibly even quantify a process that will lead to more successful adoptions in the future. Results describe optimal conditions and best practices, as well as a framework based on John Kotter's Eight Steps for Leading Change. The study concludes with a discussion of the intersection of life and death in the local church.
