Abstract
  • The thesis of this study is that the ministry of Paul to the Thessalonians provides a viable model for dialogical appropriation of received tradition for modern Christians. This thesis has been tested by combining historical/exegetical investigation of the Thessalonian correspondence with a course in which believers sought meaningful interaction with the Lord of whom the letters speak. The result of this study is that Paul's methods of making essential traditions relevant to a new audience have emerged, and each of the participants in the course report growth in faith and understanding of the Lord who lives and invites them to follow.
