Abstract
  • The purpose of this project was to demonstrate the effectiveness of narrative preaching in communicating doctrine to a postmodern congregation. A control group made up of church attendees between the ages of nineteen and forty was surveyed with an instrument designed to measure levels of orthodoxy and postmodern orientation. The same group was re-tested following an eight-week sermon series covering eight major Christian doctrines. There was a significant increase in orthodoxy levels, particularly among participants with higher levels of postmodern orientation.
