  • This report explores the linguistic progress during seminary and into ministry, leading to a focus on how to best guide students who are resistant to the use of inclusive and expansive language in the academy and ministry. It is the argument of this report that both an academic as well as a formational approach would work best to aid the growth of the resistant student. Qualitative research using a case study approach focused on a survey of 12 alumni of Bethany Theological Seminary who all began in the Fall of 2005, with an additional survey conducted with current teaching faculty.
