Abstract
  • This ministry project presents the biblical, historical, and theological rationale for a ministry to the grieving through the understanding of 'covenant' and 'priesthood of all believers' within the context of the church's ministry. Clinical studies and the work of Dr Elisabeth Kübler-Ross and others are utilized to show the physical and emotional effects of grief on individuals, while identifying the stages of grief and personal characteristics needed in a grief ministry. A long-term approach to the support of the bereaved is advocated. The project consisted of eight training sessions, concluding with a commissioning service. Content analysis is utilized.
