Abstract
  • A survey study of 171 alums in missions from Houghton College, a four-year undergraduate Christian liberal arts college, proves that over the decades from the 1940s to the 1980s the experiences and training in this institution are vital in the call and preparation for missions. Three out of four respondents from a broad spectrum of missionary roles and boards would train again at Houghton and credit the hard work, discipline, spiritual growth, examples of faculty and academic input (especially Bible courses) in college days with their development. Voluntary, student-led missionary activities played a vital role.
