Abstract
  • This project proposes to prepare 12 laypersons of Basin Baptist Church in Elba, Alabama, to be involved in crisis intervention with confidence and compassion. In a ten-week training program the project defines crisis and crisis intervention and discusses anxiety and apathy in ministry, biblical perspectives, how to identify persons in crisis, models of effective intervention, children in crisis, crisis with physical illness, and crisis with grief after death of a loved one. Participants engage in practical application of learned material, and the training concludes with a time of review and evaluation.
