  • Drawn into the emotional tornado of clergy divorce, a local church can find itself disoriented and thrown off balance. The qualitative study of six United Methodist churches affected by the divorce of their pastors, this study addresses the minimally researched phenomenon of how clergy divorce affects a local church and the factors that influence a local church in its recovery. The author discovered that a local churches recovery is influenced by various relationships that exist between the pastor and the local church. The reported signs of recovery are the ability to laugh, minister, and worship authentically.
