Abstract
  • Clergy who are intentional in their wellness will be more effective in their individual ministries. Ten men and women in the Dalton District of the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church committed four weeks to the project. The district superintendent was the convener, a co-participant, and provided leadership by precept and example. Sessions included theological foundations of wellness, a medical evaluation of each participant, identification of healthy eating and exercise habits, and application of learnings to the local church and community. All participants met at least one of their goals relating to diet and/or exercise. All agreed to meet once a month for group support once the project was completed.
