Abstract
  • This project initiated a nine-week series of sermons using Moses as a model of call, an intensive course on the doctrine and practice of call, individual meetings with members of the congregation, and a discernment process that enabled church members both to articulate their respective calls and identify others in the congregation and community who resonated with those calls. This moved Community Church for Christ of Oakland, California, into a wide spectrum of ministries assumed by congregational ministry groups, ranging from the liberation of prostitutes to the initiation of intensive modules for community children.
