- Abstract
- Ten women were self-selected to participate in a women's Bible study and spirituality group. The program consisted of eight two-hour sessions, meeting one evening each week. The author believed that by exposing women to women in the Scriptures through the lens of the work of women scholars, the women's self-esteem would be enhanced. The Hudson Index of Self-Esteem was the measure of the women's esteem. A baseline test was given followed by the test taken at the end of each session. The average of the women's scores indicated a 1.5 increase in self-esteem.
