Abstract
  • Ten ministers were trained as mentors to demonstrate mentoring as a valid support system. They were paired with ten mentorees for six months. The pairs met weekly, guided by a mentoring manual. The project director met monthly with the mentors. Each mentoree's growth in planning, relationships, and leadership skills was measured with pre- and post-questionnaires. The mentorees evaluated the mentors. Covenants and journals were developed by participants. Conclusions reached were: a support system for Hawaii ministers is needed; ministers grow in a mentoring relationship; and, mentoring is a valid support system. A mentoring program for Hawaii ministers should be established.
