Abstract

The goal was to test training designed for pastors to discover their spiritual gifts and increase leadership capacity, using a spiritual gifts inventory (SGI) highlighting the leader-gifts in Eph. 4 for incarnational ministry. The action research method guided this intervention and engaged thirty-nine pastors and a group of laity in training, surveys, and interviews which examined this researcher's practice in the Capitol District. The results include: adapting training to new sensitivities and challenges, to more fully engage pastors; shifting focus from the SGI questions to the read-out of SGI results; and new insights on giving voice to the leader-gifts.
