- Abstract
- It is important to a church, whose traditions and doctrine are Wesleyan, to understand a Wesleyan perspective for Bible study. For followers of Wesley the Bible is the Word of God in human words. But, its purpose is not fundamentally to show contradiction between humans and God. Its fundamental purpose is to show how people may become God-like in this life. The role of scripture is to encourage us to be Christ-like without denying the sinfulness of our nature apart from grace. This ministry project develops a Bible study program which reflects a Wesleyan view of the nature and role of scripture. The author organizes people of the Nall Avenue congregation, who had responded to the invitation to study God's Word, into small groups. The purpose is to bring their experiences of life under grace to scripture for investigation.
