Abstract
  • …This project…explore[s] whether participation in the Eucharist, offered within the context of a semin-monthly small support group of grieving persons, would be perceived as an aid in the process of recovery by the participants themselves…The focus of the project however was to be on program development rather than pure hypothesis testing…The initial project methodology involved journaling by participants for the purpose of reflecting on their own grief experience. In addition a portion of each session was recorded and an interview was held with each participant following the final group session. This methodology also provided an indirect method of assessing the eucharistic dimension of the experience, i.e. in asking participants to reflect on their grief experience in their journals, on the evaluation session tapes and in the exit interviews, the did, in fact, include observations on the effect of the Eucharist on their grief pilgrimage.
