Abstract
  • The author indentified a problem in Chinese churches where Old Testament narratives are either neglected or mishandled in the pulpit. He proposed that applying the rhetorical analysis by paying attention to the unique features of the narrative genre may help alleviate this problem. He then carried out a field test with a teaching course designed to train Chinese preachers to apply rhetorical analysis to biblical stories. The final evaluation showed noticeable improvement in sermon preparation of Old Testament narratives.
