Abstract
  • This thesis will show that the Spirit's work in preaching that I call unction is something to pursue, never presume. It is based on 1 Thessalonians 1:5, where Paul lists five components of winning speech: the word of God, power, passion, lifestyle, and the Holy Spirit. It will be shown that unction is the tangible revelation of the power and presence of God in his Word by the Holy Spirit graciously imparted first to the preacher and then through the preacher to the listeners who are both drawn to worship and to life-change.
