A strategy of preventive ministry for the family experiencing preadolescence

Abstrait

This paper grew out of an action-research project conducted in the parish then served. In it, adolescence was explored as a unique and necessary developmental style which must occasion some conflict, hopefully healthy, between parent and child. However, too often adolescence becomes more traumatic than necessary unless steps are taken to prepare for it. The project consists of ten sessions where parent and adolescent relate together through a family 'cluster', so as to develop the balance of togetherness/separateness necessary to experience adolescence as a creative episode in family life.
