  • The church has some recognizable characteristics as expressed in the examples of covenant fellowship found in the Bible. People are seeking such a fellowship and when the covenant fellowship is not found in a particular congregation, seekers look elsewhere. The ministry challenge addressed by this thesis is the intentional introduction and cultivation of interventions to develop characteristics which will move an aggregate congregation toward becoming a covenant fellowship, thus becoming more attractive to the seekers as well as more responsive to their needs. The conclusions reached in this study are that it is possible to create those physical characteristics of a covenant fellowship within a congregation which make a difference in retaining active members. Ultimately, however, the covenant fellowship can only be created by the power of the Holy Spirit.
