Abstract
  • The purpose of this project was to discover some of the key indicators that identify and explain a pattern of successful mergers between two or more denominational congregations in the United States by surveying pastors who have previously led their churches through a successful merger. The questions on the survey are based on my experience leading a merger of three churches. The completed surveys showed at least ten areas that the majority of churches had in common and may thus indicate the potential of a successful merger. No one area had a unanimous response.
