- Abstract
- Jesus Christ revealed to His people that 'the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve' (Matt 20:28). Also, the Apostle John challenged the early Christians to 'Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest' (John 4:35). This project is in direct response to these Biblical challenges. The purpose of this project is to mobilize and train Christians with professional skills at the First Baptist Church of McKinney to use their own background as a tool in servant evangelism. The project participants will participate in a five-week seminar in which the project leader will present Sjogren's concept of servant evangelism. Servant evangelism is best understood when Christians perform deeds of love with words of love in adequate time with no strings attached. The project leader will also help participants find a way to connect his or her professional skills with the concepts of servant evangelism, and instruct them in the way to teach a one-day workshop in their area of expertise. It is hoped that the project will help bridge the gap between Christian professionals and the lost people.
