Abstract

The purpose of this project was to equip a select group of married couples of First Baptist Church, Odessa, Texas, in premarital counseling skills. The goals of this project were (1) to research the field of premarital counseling, (2) to develop a workshop to train selected married couples in premarital counseling skills, and (3) to equip a selected group of members to participate in a premarital counseling ministry. The teaching methods used during the training sessions were lecture, group discussions, questionnaires, participant interaction, and general evaluations. A pre-test/post-test and written evaluations were utilized to determine that the project was a success and the stated goals have been met.
