- The objective of this project is to move the congregation of Second Baptist Church, Asbury Park, New Jersey, from domination to relational models of power for change in the city. The model uses a threefold, concurrent methodology that envisions acting into new ways of thinking by transforming 1) preaching into innovative dialogue, 2) entrepreneurship into collaboration, and 3) ministry-for-the-neighborhood into ministry-with-the-neighborhood. Test findings suggest that traditional congregations can be significantly transformed by relational, small group dynamics. With slight modifications this methodology has merit as an effective and replicable model.
