  • This project thesis evaluates the degree of incorporation of new members who joined during a growth surge in a new United Methodist congregation. A survey was developed to score degree of incorporation and assess the effectiveness of various programs through which new members could become incorporated. Results were crosstabulated by gender, age, and scored degree of incorporation. Analysis was done by comparing the results of members who joined by profession of faith, transferred from other United Methodist congregations, transferred from other denominations, and associate/affiliate membership. Significant findings highlighted the difficulty of incorporating new members joining by profession of faith.
