Abstract
  • Creative, vibrant lay leadership begins with the gifts and strengths of the people, not with a list of positions to be filled according to the structure of the church. Drawing on process and feminist theology, the author argues that nurturing the unique expression of the divine within each person leads to an empowered and engaged laity. She designed and facilitated a small group seminar based on this thesis and found that participants were highly energized by being provided with the space to reflect on their strengths and spiritual passions and to seek new and creative ways to express those gifts.
