Abstract
  • Mainline decline persists as a narrative of many Presbyterian Church (USA) congregations. This project focuses on the implementation of missional principles in a particular congregation to shift its narrative of decline to a narrative of revitalization. The report explores Second Presbyterian Church's historical identity leading to its period of decline, identifies missional principles, and then traces the narrative of the implementation of those principles within the congregation. The result is observations that may prove helpful for other declining congregations to combat mainline decline.
