Abstract
  • The researcher postulated that three-dimensional sermon illustrations, used to emphasize the sermon theme, would increase memory retention of the sermon theme in Air Force Chapel attendees. A comparison of ten sermons preached, alternating between three-dimensional visual illustrations and verbal illustrations was conducted. Quantitative analysis revealed participants remembered visually illustrated sermons better than verbally illustrated sermons. Qualitative analysis revealed participants attributed better memory of sermons to the three-dimensional visual illustrations.
