Abstract

The purpose of this project was to enhance the pastor’s topical preaching skill to increase congregational understanding of New Harmony Baptist Church about discipleship’s doctrinal foundations. The pastor of New Harmony Baptist Church researched topical preaching, doctrine, and discipleship to prepare messages for the congregation about the specific topics of the doctrines that are foundational to discipleship. He prepared his findings in annotated bibliographies, reports, sermon briefs, and sermon manuscripts. He worked with a test group within the congregation to determine deficiencies in their understanding of discipleship and then brought a series of sermons to fill in the gaps in their understanding. The pastor worked with mentors and credentialed evaluators to assist in achieving the goals that were set forth in the project proposal.
