Abstract
  • Certain activities and attitudes create a tenuous climate for ministry. The project addresses one obstacle to effective church ministry as it relates to the small membership church: the small church mentality. The small church mentality shows itself in four characteristics: fear of outsiders; resistance to change; lack of cohesive, coherent organization; and lack of unified forward movement. To move toward effective ministry requires the small church to diagnose the presence and effects of the small church mentality and its mindset. This project leads a small church to diagnose its condition and analyze biblical truths which would help it to overcome the small church mentality.
