Abstract
  • This project considers the role of ecclesiology in development of effective congregational leadership. The contemporary context of Christian congregations demands that leaders engage in ongoing reflection on the nature and mission of the church. Partnering lay leadership in such reflection is a primary pastoral responsibility. The project explores, in the context of a congregation's administrative body, two foundational principles: that an incarnational, eschatological understanding of the church as the body of Christ is a central image for church leadership in times of paradigmatic change; and that a pastor can best help leadership development by a shared praxis approach to ecclesiological reflection in the midst of administrative functions.
