Abstract
  • This project challenged the common understanding and interpretation of sixteenth century Anabaptism held by twenty-first century Mennonites which has generally included only little recognition of the evangelistic and missionary character of the movement. The writer presented stories of sixteenth century Anabaptist evangelistic activity to a Mennonite congregation in Ontario and discovered that the lost narrative of their evangelistic Anabaptist heritage influenced how the participants viewed the sixteenth century movement, their Mennonite activity and their own personal commitment to evangelism.
