Abstract
  • Injuries involving head trauma are among the most common in our society. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of brain injury on one's church attendance and involvement and to investigate how the church can minister to this growing population. Individual interviews were conducted with eighteen brian injury survivors that represented a demographic cross-section of the brain injury population. The study revealed that only 28% of participants had returned to active participation with their church post-injury. Reasons for this finding and implications for the church are discussed, as well as suggestions to help congregations become more welcome and accepting to this disability group.
