Abstract
  • The project relates the needs of the bereaved to the Order of Christian Funerals (1989). The ministry of consolation is stressed as a way of connecting ritual and pastoral care. Highlighted is the intersection of theology and psychology in parish bereavement and catechesis. Theological reflections are provided for a theology of a bereavement. A liturgy preparation guide and a parish support group are outlined. Conclusions from pastoral interviews and presentations are cited. Special attention is given to parish ministers, funeral directors, and the community's appreciation of pastoral care.
