- Abstract
- Elders of smaller membership churches in the Presbyterian Church (USA) need leadership training. The paper discribes how this need is being met in two smaller membership churches through the use and evaluation of 'Body Builders: Exercises in Leadership Development for Elders of Smaller Membership Churches,' a training manual written for the project. The vital characteristics of smaller membership churches and the nature and origin of the office of elder are presented that these elders and churches may more effectively function in the upbuilding of the body of Christ. Results indicate that, when adequately and properly trained, few can serve greatly.
