Abstract
  • The experience of transition between parishes, especially following a long-term pastorate, is a significant part of the context in which a pastor encounters the biblical text and crafts the proclamation. It is crucial to understand the experience of that transition and how preaching could become a powerful tool of understanding and revelation in that time. Through reflection and examination of my own experience, conversations with other pastors about their move from a long term pastorate, and the study of resource materials on transition and on preaching, I have attempted to examine the relationship of this part of parish ministry and preaching.
