Abstract
  • A group of twelve mid-life adults in a large Korean church participated in a three-month spiritual formation seminar, utilizing approaches from both Western and Eastern spirituality, including storytelling, guided prayer, body care, and ritual. The project was based on biblical, theological, and psychological studies of spirituality, midlife, and spiritual formation, with special emphasis on Jungian perspectives, developmental psychology, and the Korean concept of han, and focusing on the issues and needs of midlife. Its effectiveness was tested by pre- and post-tests, which demonstrated that participants' attitudes and perceptions relative to burnout, self-identity, prayer patterns, and marriage enrichment were significantly affected.
