Abstract
  • This thesis-project focuses on the principle of creating mental images in preaching so that people more clearly comprehend, retain, and appropriate what has been spoken. Through a review of biblical literature it demonstrates the Bible's various techniques to create mental images to communicate God's truth. Through an examination of secular research and practices, the author demonstrates the importance of imagery in memory. Through a perusal of both ancient and modern history it demonstrates how skillful communicators across the ages have used imagery for effectiveness in communication. The author then applies the insights to homiletics. An introductory seminar is presented.
