Abstract
  • When African-Americans appropriate symbols of their heritage, they will increase self-esteem and be able to develop an ecclesiology reflective of who they are. Methodology employed was the 'purpose in life' test to measure existential void; in addition, the author conducted interviews. The evaluations showed that the thesis has validity. Heritage Fellowship did not appropriate symbols of their African and African-American heritages, nor did they develop a meaningful ecclesiology. They suffered from existential void.
