- Abstract
- Organized in 1973, the Association of Bible Churches of the Philippines grew out of the church planting efforts of two missions, Overseas Missionary Fellowship and SEND International, and has entered into a tentative agreement with a third mission, and is in consultation with a fourth. This study concerns itself with the historical background of the country, the mission agencies, and the evolutionary process that brought us to where we are today. This relationship, i.e., three mission agencies associated with one national church, suggests itself as a model for others to consider. Although it is not without its flaws, it continues to serve as an acceptable vehicle for evangelization. Other models of a partnership nature are considered for comparison. Certain cultural factors in the development of leadership styles are looked at. We consider this a crucial area in church-missions relationships, the key factor in holding foreign and national organizations together.
