Abstract
  • This project proposes a transformation of stewardship theology and practice at the congregational level through small groups focusing on education for cognitive change of perception. Local congregations need to overcome historical errors related to Christian stewardship. In most North American parishes there is refusal to talk about money, there is compartmentalization of spiritual and material matters, and there is no coherent theology of Christian stewardship. The project demonstrates that the church is called to be a community of grace and gratitude dedicated to the glory of God, in which piety is practiced, idolatry is resisted, and money and possessions are shared with those in need.
