- Abstract
- By adapting and applying principles of evangelism and discipleship utilized by ancient Celtic monastic communities, contemporary churches can effectively reach their communities for Christ. The author conducted interviews, implemented Kevin Ford's Transforming Church Index, and developed a small group Bible study exploring these principles. The results revealed the need to develop a greater awareness of evangelism and discipleship, while focusing on elements of Celtic monastic principles already in place. The church must build upon strengths shared with the Celtic monastic communities to be more effective with evangelism and discipleship. The results are adaptable to other ministry contexts.
