Abstract
  • A key to church re-formation, vitality and growth is found in recovering the Puritan vision of family, church and society which was an integral part of this nation's spiritual heritage. They saw the family as the first church, and the greater congregation serving families in a way that strengthened families, churches and society's common good, in that order. This thesis explores one enduring error which may have served to drive a tragically unnecessary stake into the heart of the Puritan vision. This error notwithstanding, they offer much that remains vitally relevant today, especially to the fragmented families of our time.
