Abstract
  • This project develops a volunteer staff for an emergency shelter for homeless women and their children in Quincy, Massachusetts. This volunteer staff is solicited from nearly one hundred churches and Christian women's groups, and represents an attempt to involve the local community of faith in a social service program of truly ecumenical proportions. Chapters include the justification for the church's participation in the program, the actual planning and implementation of the volunteer staff, and final evaluations of the effort. In addition, the Whitehead tri-polar model for ministerial reflection provides the methodological framework for the project.
