Abstract
  • The thesis was that new responses in education and ministry were necessary at Newington College, a Christian non-sectarian day and boarding school of 1500 boys, which had changed from a mono-cultural to a pluralist institution with pupils from over fifty ethnic backgrounds. Research was made into the biblical and theological dimensions of pluralism, and the types, problems and needs of minority groups in the school. A report to college authorities recommended educational strategies, and approaches in worship, religious activities and pastoral care. The project evaluates implemented changes, and offers a model for the church and independent schools with pluralist constituencies.
