- Abstract
- Jerry Allen Rankin served the Southern Baptist Convention's International Mission Board (IMB) for seventeen years from 1993 to 2010. He led through a noteworthy paradigm shift in which the IMB grew to embrace local churches to address the Great Commission task together. The transition was not without the investment of significant leadership marked by vision, focus, and passion. The IMB transitioned in 2009 from a purely sending entity to a connecting entity. Rankin's story revealed significant conclusions and recommendations, including leadership lessons. This brief history is an account of God's providential leadership and represents a significant epoch in missions history.
