Abstract
  • The thesis of this dissertation is 'The mission of God is the mission of the church.' The author first examined the Missio Dei from a biblical and confessional perspective and then researched the confessional boundaries for the establishment of a Lutheran mission society in Michigan. The author conducted a series of interviews with several mission congregations planted since 2006. Comparing current mission models with the researched boundaries for Lutheran mission resulted in the discovery of a divergence between theology and practice. Therefore, a Lutheran mission society is suggested as an alternative mission model fro congregations in Michigan.
