  • This study analyzes the Brazilian church's pastoral response to violence and injustice associated with land problems since the 1950s. Church documents, statements and pastoral strategies are examined and the significant contribution of the Basic Ecclesial Communities in the struggle against land violence is outlines. The contribution of the development of a local theology of land and struggle in enabling the victims to resist violence and injustice is studied.
