Abstract
  • The goal of this project was to develop a non-residential treatment program for problem-drinkers that integrates the major etiologic theories of alcoholism with a Christian understanding of human behavior and divine resources. The word 'alcoholic' is abandoned in favor of the term 'problem-drinker' because of ambiguous meaning of the former. The project describes the four major classifications of problem-drinkers and draws implications for treatment. It presents a non-residential treatment program which meets the needs of each type of problem-drinker while focusing also on the common need to find wholeness and healing in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
