Abstract
  • The purpose of this project was to provide support for teenage mothers and to bridge the gap between church and community as they related to teenage parenting. The STEP (Systematic Training for Effective Parenting) Program was used to raise the awareness and competence level of teenage mothers on parenting. The church provided training, teachers, and the space for classes. The community provided services to the teen mothers through the schools, government agencies, and the court systems. The anticipated outcome was that teenage mothers had acquired through parenting training classes attitudes, practices, and techniques for being more effective parents.
