This research project is an application of James W Fowler's faith development theory in a parish context. The author realized that his ministry could be significantly hampered because it lacked pertinent developmental understanding of his parishioners. The project's process involved three primary components: individual interviews with subsequent Fowlerian interpretations, a group evaluative meeting, and a concluding questionnaire. The project took place within a congregation in the United Church of Canada and involved 36 session members who were responsible with the minister for the congregation's spiritual oversight. This qualitative research project proved beneficial for the minister and most session members.
